We're gearing up for another amazing term at CBA's Executive Banking School (EBS), hosted at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina!

As we prepare, we're also asking last year's honors alumni to share their experiences at EBS. Our first feature is Mark Salatino, SVP of Consumer Segment and Solutions at U.S. Bank, and this year's CBA Tem Wooldridge Award recipient.

What was the highlight of your time at CBA's Executive Banking School?

Getting to know and work with so many accomplished leaders from across the banking industry. At EBS, you develop very close relationships with your classmates, which presents tremendous learning opportunities. You get to work closely with people from diverse backgrounds, geographies, and job functions. It’s a chance to learn a lot about yourself as a leader – and learn from each other – in a highly supportive and collaborative environment.

How has the Executive Banking School helped you advance your career?

I have become a more confident leader by going through the program, which has allowed me to take on larger challenges and assignments. A lot of the time on campus is spent working in teams, where success is determined by your ability to develop a strategy and work together to execute it. The work can be challenging, but you learn a lot in the process – about banking concepts, about leadership, and about how to get the very best out of yourself and others.

What advice can you give to incoming students?

Come to EBS hungry to learn. Every person at EBS has unique talents and strengths that you can learn from. The program is a combination of classroom lectures, team-based activities, and individual projects – all of which are designed to help you develop important skills that will make you a better leader. The three years go by faster than you think – if you’re highly engaged and consistently motivated to learn, then you’re guaranteed to get a lot out of the EBS program.
