CBA Statement on Acting Comptroller of the Currency Appointment

Consumer Bankers Association (CBA) President and CEO Lindsey Johnson issued the following statement on Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announcing his intention to appoint Rodney E. Hood as a Deputy Comptroller and to designate him the First Deputy Comptroller of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, who, in this role, will also serve as Acting Comptroller of the Currency:

“On behalf of America's leading retail banks, we commend Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent for announcing his intent to appoint Rodney E. Hood as Acting Comptroller of the Currency.

“As former Chairman of the National Credit Union Administration, Hood's extensive experience and leadership in financial services will be invaluable in overseeing the safety and soundness of the nation's banking system while ensuring that America’s leading retail banks can continue to meet the evolving needs of consumers and communities.

“We look forward to working with Acting Comptroller Hood, Acting Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Chair Travis Hill, and others to promote a stable financial system that fosters innovation, expands access to banking services, and upholds the highest standards of prudential supervision.”
