CBA Releases New Data-Driven Hub to Highlight Main Street Banks’ Positive Economic Impacts

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Consumer Bankers Association (CBA) today launched a new data hub designed to quantify the positive real-world impact America’s leading Main Street banks provide to hardworking Americans, small businesses, and communities across the country.

CBA President and CEO Lindsey Johnson released the following statement on the new data hub:

“Leveraging more data-driven capabilities continues to enable CBA to offer valuable and unique insights on consumer banking and lending trends and provide much needed data-driven analysis of key policy proposals impacting CBA members and their customers.

“This new data page is a tremendous way for this powerful information to be accessed by our members, policymakers, and stakeholders across the country. Being able to quantify the positive economic impacts that America’s leading Main Street banks have will help policymakers better understand the value we provide our communities on a day-to-day basis.”

About the Data Hub

This new resource brings together data to provide policymakers, media, and the public with a clearer picture of how retail banks support economic activity in communities across the nation. It also serves as the source on unique data and insights to our members, policymakers, and broader stakeholders related to consumer retail lending and trends.

The data hub serves as a central gateway to CBA’s broader research efforts, including the quarterly Chart Book, Data Desk analysis, and policy research library.

By leveraging publicly available data, the new data hub highlights:

• Over 36,000 CBA member bank branches;
• $177 billion in lending to small businesses; and
• Six million loans extended to small business.
