CBA Elects Three New Bankers to Board of Directors

 

Phoenix, AZ (March 6, 2016) – Today, the Consumer Bankers Association’s Board of Directors elected three new members to join the 25-member Board:  Rafael Bustillo of BBVA Compass, Cathy Nash of Woodforest National Bank (Cathy previously spent four years serving on CBA’s Board when she was at Citizens Republic Bancorp), and Jamie Warder of USAA Bank. CBA's Board of senior retail banking executives guides the organization in its support of and advocacy for the retail banking industry, which provides banking services to America’s consumers and small businesses.

“Our Board of Directors is absolutely vital to the strength and knowledge of CBA.  Given their keen insights, talents, and years of experience as senior retail banking executives, we could not be more excited about adding Rafael Bustillo, Cathy Nash, and Jamie Warder to our board,” said CBA’s President and CEO Richard Hunt.

Rafael Bustillo, Chief Operating OfficerBBVA Compass
Rafael Bustillo serves as chief operating officer and is responsible for the bank’s primary lines of business:  Retail, Wealth Management, Commercial and Mortgage Lending. Bustillo is a member of the BBVA Compass Management Committee and reports directly to Chairman and CEO Manolo Sánchez. Bustillo has been with BBVA Compass since 1987, leading U.S. Commercial Banking since 2009. Prior to that, he was Commercial Banking’s Denver Market President and Western Region Executive for Arizona, California, Colorado and New Mexico. He also was the bank’s Gainesville Market President and Regional Executive for Northeast Florida and Southeast Alabama Community Markets, and Commercial and Private Banking Manager in Huntsville, Ala. Active in the community in all of the markets where he has served, Bustillo is a past member of many boards, including United Way, Boys and Girls Club, Junior Achievement and the American Heart Association, where he was president. During his tenure in Colorado, he served on the board of directors and the executive committees of the Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce and Metro Denver Economic Development Committee. Additionally, he served on the board of directors for the Colorado Bankers Association. He currently serves on the board of the Houston Zoo and is an active member of the Campaign Cabinet for Opportunity Houston 2.0 and the Financial Services Roundtable.

Cathy Nash, President & CEO – Woodforest National Bank

Cathleen (Cathy) Nash is the President and CEO of Woodforest National Bank, located in The Woodlands, TX.   Woodforest National Bank offers consumer and business products and services at more than 740 locations in 17 states across the United States. Woodforest National Bank is privately owned with the Employee Stock Ownership Plan as the largest shareholder. Nash is the former President and CEO of Citizens Republic Bancorp, based in Flint, Michigan with assets of $9.7 billion. She serves on the board of directors of Give Kids The World, an organization that provides memorable, magical, cost-free experiences to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.  She is also a board member of BAI, the financial services industry's leading provider of information, education and research on important strategic topics in retail banking, payments and compliance management.

Jamie Warder, President – USAA Bank
Jamie Warder, president of USAA Bank, leads the bank in providing a full range of deposit and lending products and services to help military families achieve financial security. Jamie, who has been with USAA since January 2015, has more than a decade in the retail banking industry, bringing deep financial services and operational acumen. Prior to joining USAA, Jamie served as executive vice president of new markets, operations, and direct channels at Capital One. He led PNC’s mortgage servicing operation, including end-to-end core and default servicing for a portfolio of over one million mortgage loans. He also served as PNC’s executive vice president of call centers and multi-channel distribution, where he was responsible for strategy, performance and operations for six PNC call centers. Following PNC’s acquisition of National City Bank in 2008, Jamie led a major divestiture, the integration of the company’s call centers, and the multi-channel offer distribution strategy for the enterprise. Jamie held several senior roles at National City Bank including executive vice president of retail direct and channel support. He led all non-branch channels, including online banking, customer service call centers, outbound sales centers, inbound sales and ATMs. During his tenure at National City Bank, Jamie also managed several operational functions, including branch auditing, cash logistics, vaults, network planning and delivery, cash reconcilement and retail controls. In addition to the banking industry, Warder was an Associate Principal with McKinsey & Company. Jamie received an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School and a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy.  He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army.
